Creator-Writer-Director
Cynthia McCahon is a creator, writer, and director developing original narrative film and series projects through Essential Matter.
Her work focuses on interior life, authorship, and human presence, exploring how memory, identity, and personal history shape experience. She approaches technology as a narrative instrument rather than a subject, informed by lived experience at the intersection of systems, authorship, and human interiority.
With experience in television as a writer-director-producer, multiple Los Angeles-area regional Emmy nominations, and a background as a two-time technology founder, McCahon now concentrates on authored, creator-driven projects developed with long-form intent and cinematic discipline.
She is currently developing a new original narrative series reflecting her interest in emotionally grounded storytelling, restrained visual language, and clarity over spectacle.
McCahon develops projects independently through Essential Matter, maintaining clean authorship and chain of title while preparing select work for representation, festival submission, and future production.
